Todd Stanley

Executive Producer

Emmy-Award-winning producer Todd Stanley has created compelling television for over 15 years. He’s one of the master minds on the team that developed the Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch and SOS: Coastguard Rescue

As head of Todd Stanley Productions, he conceptualizes and oversees a wide range of content, from hard news to documentaries to reality programming. He’s originated magazine-style shows, music videos and commercials.

After settling in Lotus, California, Todd envisioned a new show, one that would capture the essence of the diverse people, places and culture that make up California’s Gold Country. So he created Experience El Dorado, the half-hour magazine style program that airs once a month.

An avid kayaker, Todd lives with his family just a stone’s throw from the banks of the American River.

  • Tracy Frank  - Still
Wanted to take a moment to share that, upon watching the new season this eve, I still miss Captain Phil. If you're still on the set, which for some reason I believe you are, let Jake and Josh know that there are those of us out here who still think of their father and wish nothing but the best for them. I'm sure they have an incredible support system and I have no doubt you guys [the cameramen] are a big part of that. Stay strong, keep warm and know that there are those of us out here who watch, and appreciate, the work, and risk, you guys take every single day.

Good luck and godspeed, Mr Stanley...your sacrifice does not go unnoticed,

  • Chris Wall  - Thank you Todd
We met,at Phil's service on Sunday, you and I and Cathryn and Keith. I believe all we did was hug each other, and very few words spoken, but all knowing that were there for each other,no matter what capacity we all knew and loved Phil. I to mourn that loss, but I also am very happy that you, Todd, had the insight to bring the Crab boats to everyone and anyone whom wished to see what it's all about. Thur your efforts, you mesmerized the world. We all thank you very much. And I'd like to meet again one day, your an interesting man to talk with.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Capt Phil, I am a big fan of DC and you two guys were very close and I thank you for the work you do to bring this show to Discovery. I for one am hooked and hate when a season ends. I am always glad that all come home safe. Phil will be missed so much, I for one was a great fan of his. I was so upset to know he was ill. it wont be the same without him but I am sure he will be looking down on all the boats and keep them safe. You guys were like brothers you dont work that closely with someone and dont get involved. You will be sad but the next season will be the tribute to Phil I hope the boys don't give up the fishing Phil will always be looking after them My deepest sympathies. Caroline from the UK
  • Todd Stanley  - Many thanks
    Chris,

The pain is uncomfortable... words cannot describe how I feel at present. He was such a sincere and lovable man whom I hated at times! We were tight and had the kind of trust you just don't get with many. Friends are people we know very well but we love them anyway.

    Thanks,

    Todd

    Fisherman's Prayer

God grant that I may live to fish,
    until my dying day,
And when it comes to my last cast,
    I then most humbly pray,
When in the Lord's safe landing net,
    I'm peacefully asleep,
That in his mercy I be judged,
    As big enough to keep.

  • Linda  - Passing of Phil
Please accept my shared feeling of loss.Although of course I never met Phil,I felt like he was a part of my life. I always loved watching the show, and held my breath between seasons that no harm would come to anyone who fishes the Bering Sea.How wonderful that you and your crew had the wisdom to capture the fleet on film in a way that makes all of us love and care so much about each one the fishing vessels you spend time aboard.I wish you peace in this sad time.Phil and his family will be in my thoughts always.

  • MIKE AND DORIS FIND  - LOSS OF A GREAT FRIEND WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN
THIS IS A GREAT LOSS TO EVERYONE. HE WAS THE FATHER OF THE SEA AND HE WILL ALWAYS BE LOOKING DOWN ON EVERYONE. SO IF ANYONE GOES OUT TO THE SEA THEY SHOULD FEEL SAFE THAT CAPT PHIL WILL BE LOOKING DOWN ON THEM
  • Frauke  - Capt. Phil as the father of the sea
This feels comforting. Next time we leave for sailing (only on the North Sea)I shall look "upstairs", if I can get a smile from capt. Phil, because after 50 years of sailing I sometimes still feel like greenhorn.
  • Mrs. Frank Londres  - Suggestion to Discovery
Condolences Todd in losing someone who obviously was very close to you. I have been a fan of Deadliest Catch for years and my favourite Captain; Phil Harris. I have a suggestion and wondered if you would help move it along if you agree with me. The other night a tribute marathon was done by Discovery Channel on Captain Phil's best shows, but I live in Canada and was very much into the Olympics, as a lot of people are still. I wish Discovery Channel would announce sometime that they will replay that marathon...as it is a shame to have missed it.
    Respectfully, Mrs. Frank Londres
  • Karen Marie  - Sorry for your loss
    Todd -

My daughter, Carly and I met you, "experience el dorado".

I want to personally say how sorry I am for your loss. You and Captain Phil seemed very close. I guess all those hours together filming DC made you two more than friends - more like brothers. I cannot believe Phil is gone. It is so hard to wrap your head around. After one meeting I could tell he was a one of a kind! Anyway - big hug to you and of course, josh, jake and the CM crew. Karen & Carly

  • Patricia Carlisle  - Cornelia Marie
Todd, your work on the Cornelia Marie and the way you captured it is one reason we all feel like we were part of Capt. Phil's family and crew; felt his passing so deeply.
What will happen with Cornelia Marie-will it remain one of the fleet on DC with Jake and Josh or another Captain?
Thanks for your great work and will you remain on Deadliest Catch? Sure hope so.
  • Dave  - Sorry for the loss of your friend
I'm a Technical Director in a 2000 seat theatre in my home town and fellow behind the scenes guy myself. Deadliest catch is a favorite amongst my stage crew and Phil was one of our favorites. He will be missed and we all extend our condolences for the loss of your good friend. We hope his sons can carry on his legacy and honor Phil's amazing accomplishments starting as a volunteer fisherman to owner of his own rig. He's an inspiration to the little guy everywhere that dreams of something bigger and better.

    God Bless,

    Dave

  • Kellie Moran  - possible idea/fantasy...
    Hi Todd/Cory

I met you guys last Saturday after I attacked "Capt. Phil" in the tasting room @ Lava Cap winery:). I watched your show last night about the Rubicon trail. Cory you are a hoot. You all seem very down to earth and cool.
Anyway, I was wondering if you, Todd ever pitched or thought of the idea of a "fan" spending some time with the crews aboard their boats on the Deadliest Catch. I for one would love to experience a few days aboard (with Phil& his crew of course). Helping out or participating in some way.
So, if you ever consider this idea please keep me in mind.
    Happy Holidays!
    hugs&smiles
    Kellie Moran
p.s feel free to pass my e-mail on to Phil :)!!!
  • cory tapia  - Hello Kellie
Thank you for not tackling me at Lava Cap! We are happy to hear you enjoyed the show. Make sure to tell all your friends to enjoy all EED episodes online 24/7 from anywhere in the world. As for deadliest catch...Discovery Channel would be the best place to send that request. DC is a big company with lots of shows and lots of responsibilty to anyone on those shows. Thank you for sharing the Experience, Cory
